As many of you have probably heard, I’ve been hard at work on a new record for the past 6 months. We finished this past week & will now be entering the next phase of the game. This is the part where we get serious, start mixing, bring in our musician and singer friends to make things even better, drink the awesome sauce, etc.

The record has taken shape in amazing ways. I’ve been working with a new producer, Bryan Cecil (aka Y-Tron, who also produced my cover of The Dandy Warhols song “The Last High“), and we have tons of talented people on board to lend their talents to this new group of tracks. The next few months are going to be very exciting as the record continues to make its way toward your ears. I’ll be sure and keep you posted as we go…but you know how I roll: It won’t be long before we leak a few of the newbies your way.

On top of all of this I have been working on a video for “Bleed Him Out” (with Justin Adams, director of “Water Wings“), gearing up for tour around the clock with The Gentry, and as of last week…hosting my own TV show. Lots going on. I’ll be announcing tour dates soon, and will let you know more about my adventures in television as they unfold.

OK, so…Let me just start by saying HOLY SHIT THERE WERE A LOT OF PEOPLE AT THAT “BLOW PONY VS. LOGAN LYNN” SHOW ON SATURDAY!!! Thanks for coming out like a badass, Portland. I have never seen “Rotture” at capacity (which it hit at 11pm) and I have NEVER in my life seen a line that goes all the way around an entire city block to get in to any party in this town. It was pretty amazing. My lighting guy Chad Crooks got video of the line which I will post sometime, but check out this picture of the crowd! It was literally wall to wall with people in there when I took the stage with “The Gentry” at 12:30. Good Lord.

Thanks so much to my new backing band “The Gentry“. They have been busting out amazing new arrangements of my songs and have truly infused something really exciting into my live show experience. It’s a whole new world, people. Go check out their site HERE. Also, big thanks to Airick & the “Blow Pony” crew for having us play their party…and to Artemis Chase for taking such good care of me and “The Gentry” boys all night. We had so much fun.

Hey guys! It’s been a minute since I gave away a FREE SONG so I figured now’s as good a time as any. I’ve said it before, but Styrofoam is one of my all time favorites. I first heard him when someone bought me a CD of his called “I’m What’s There To Show Something’s Missing” in 2003 (which you can get on iTunes HERE) and I have followed him closely ever since. He’s been a huge inspiration to me throughout the years and I’m still pissing my pants every time I think about how awesome it is that he came on board for the project, digs my record, etc. He’s, like…the fucking Godfather of my genre and his stamping “cool” on my record has made me all smiles for years to come.

The godfather of my genre and one of my all-time musical HEROES, Belgium Electropop Genius Arne Van Pategem-aka “Styrofoam”- has served as inspiration for “Death Cab For Cutie” frontman Ben Gibbard’s side project “The Postal Service” (see The Postal Service’s Top Friends on Myspace) and he certainly has done the same for me since I first heard his record “I’m What’s There To Show Something’s Missing” in 2003.

The fact that this guy likes my music means the world to me, and getting him actually working with one of my songs for the remix project has meant even more. You are gonna go crazy when you hear what he did to “Bleed Him Out”. It’s amazing…and coming at you on Volume 3 in November!
