Feature Story on Logan Lynn and Portugal. The Man on Northwest Music Scene this Week!

Thank you to the folks at Northwest Music Scene for the feature story this week on our upcoming tour with Portugal. The Man! Check it out HERE, or keep reading below.

Portland-based indie rockers Portugal. The Man are teaming up with Keep Oregon Well and its co-founder Logan Lynn to advocate for mental health awareness throughout Oregon.

Lynn, who co-founded the campaign in 2014, agreed that mental health needs to be discussed more openly to help break the stigma surrounding it. “As a suicide survivor myself, I know how important not feeling isolated is,” he said in a statement. “Stigma exists because people have been made to feel like mental and behavioral health challenges are personal character flaws, versus being like any other medical condition. If you break your arm tomorrow, would you feel shame?”

Lynn made clear that in all he does, he has only one end point in mind: “I won’t stop doing this work until every last bit of the shame that prevents people like me from seeking help in the first place, is gone.”

Below is the full list of dates:

Watch ‘My Movie Star’ from Portland’s Logan Lynn

Premiering today on Northwest Music Scene is a brilliant three-song short film titled “My Movie Star” by prolific Portland musician Logan Lynn.

The twelve and half minute film includes three new previously unreleased songs from Lynn’s forthcoming album, My Movie Star. The clip features the ivory soaked tunes “Big City Now”, “Like Before” and the title track, “My Movie Star,” and is sure to have Logan Lynn fans drooling as they wait for the release to drop. The film and the album were produced by Jay Mohr (Saturday Night Live, “Jerry Maguire”, FOX’s “The Mick”) along with Lynn, in partnership with filmmaker Kevin Forrest of Portland Film Works, and is a taste of what’s to come when the album is released.

Mohr and Lynn joined forces with piano god and T-Pain muse GLASYS to create the multi-media double album, accompanying remixes and covers record, and the featurette by the same name. The record also features collaborations with 80’s pop icon Tiffany (“I Think We’re Alone Now”), Jarryd James, Rian Lewis, The Dandy Warhols and more, and is due out later this year.

“Music fans of the Pacific Northwest, hello and welcome back to our third annual year-end daily countdown, 100 Bands in 100 Days, where every day until December 31st, we’re showcasing a new band or artist you have to know about, presented by Verity Credit Union. Follow the #100Bands100Days hashtag on Twitter to stay on top of all the bands featured and make sure to follow Verity on Twitter as well. Some days the featured act could be an established and locally-adored northwest-based musician that perhaps you haven’t been turned onto yet, and other times they could be a band with a small following that just hasn’t had their deserved time in the sun yet. Either way, we’re fairly confident you can come away from this daily segment with plenty of new favorites. We are going to back to Oregon for today’s offering Logan Lynn.

Today’s artist is a bit more popular in terms of fanbase than most of the other artists that we’ve included in the 100/100 series but Logan Lynn’s story AND his music made it Read the rest of this entry »
