As a songwriter, I have one rule: I always say it to the person before I write it in a song. If I feel that I can’t speak some truth to you first, I won’t sing it about you after.

Art imitates life.
Fiction imitates memory.
Avoidance imitates heartbreak.

I suppose if you can’t tell the difference when it matters, the next best thing is a metaphor.

Happy 27th birthday to my music career. I have had some very high highs and some very low lows but generally just suck way less than I used to, which is cool.

Thank you to everyone who has made me look hot and sound cute over these decades of doing whatever this has been or will someday become.

I probably love you much more than you realize.
