Billboard Premieres New Logan Lynn Record Featuring Tiffany, The Dandy Warhols, Jarryd James and More

On Friday Billboard premiered Portland, Oregon-based indie pop musician Logan Lynn’s 9th studio record, My Movie Star alongside a new interview about the project, review of the album, and new music video. Read the whole article here.

The 20 song, 2 disc My Movie Star LP was co-produced by Logan Lynn and actor / comedian Jay Mohr (Saturday Night Live, Jerry Maguire) and features collaborations with 80s pop icon Tiffany (I Think We’re Alone Now), alternative rock gods The Dandy Warhols, Australian neo-soul king Jarryd James and dozens of other bands, artists and producers.

In their review of the new album, Billboard writes “For nearly 20 years, dance-pop artist Logan Lynn has made a career out of crafting catchy, disorderly songs that almost all include big beats, fun melodies and cheeky lyrics. But on his latest album, My Movie Star, Lynn has traded in his signature sound for a more somber, melancholy tone — a dynamic new album consisting of Lynn’s new piano-driven songs and filled with remixes and covers by other industry greats.”

Self-Titled Magazine calls Logan Lynn’s My Movie Star “his most intimate work yet…so spare and spellbinding it threatens to stop time entirely. Or at the very least, force you to put that mobile device down and actually listen.” while Innocent Words Magazine writes “Logan Lynn is a modern day Gene Kelly.”

The album is available now on deluxe edition double CD, vinyl and digital download wherever music is streamed and sold. Lynn, who just wrapped up a summer tour raising awareness about mental health on the road with fellow Portland rockers Portugal. The Man, will be touring the U.S. in support of My Movie Star this spring.

Logan Lynn Talks Working with Tiffany, Mixing Advocacy Into His Music, New Album ‘My Movie Star’

For nearly 20 years, dance-pop artist Logan Lynn has made a career out of crafting catchy, disorderly songs that almost all include big beats, fun melodies and cheeky lyrics. But on his latest album, My Movie Star, Lynn has traded in his signature sound for a more somber, melancholy tone.

The record consists almost entirely of songs featuring only Lynn’s voice and a piano, a major departure from his dance-pop roots. Lynn credits his collaborator on this record, comedian Jay Mohr, for this new sound. “I have a history of making rambunctious dance music, along with the occasional acoustic versions,” he tells Billboard. “He felt like I should explore being quiet. I would send him little clips of the piano songs I was writing in my loft in Portland, and he would give me feedback.”

Mohr wasn’t the only person helping to create a dynamic new album — My Movie Star is a double album, the first half consisting of Lynn’s new piano-driven songs, and the second half filled with remixes and covers of the new music by other industry greats, including 80s pop icon Tiffany, indie rock darlings The Dandy Warhols and many more.

Logan Lynn talked to Billboard about getting to work with his “idol” Tiffany, his work in advocacy for LGBTQ issues and mental health, and the creation of My Movie Star.
