The archaic music industry narrative that there is limited space for LGBTQ+ bands is still far too prevalent in 2025. The only reason this has ever even been true is because people in power continue to perpetuate the myth.

This is one of the reasons for all of the work we are doing at Music in Demand. We believe Queer and Trans artists belong at the big table.

I was talking with an old friend earlier this week and at one point she said “Everyone I know cries a lot”.

And you know what? I cry a lot!

I’ve decided this is normal. It’s the correct response to what is happening to our families, friends, and communities right now. It’s ok to just be surviving this moment we are in together.

Crying a lot is good! Let that shit out.
