LOGAN LYNN MUSIC + MANAGEMENT

Pre-Order “My Movie Star” Now and Download Logan Lynn’s Collaboration with Rian Lewis Instantly!

Breaking from my usual process, I wrote 19 new songs for My Movie Star by myself on the Steinway piano in my living room, then narrowed the tracklist down to 10 for the release. Unlike any of my previous work over the past 20 years, all of these tracks began with me streaming these initial writing sessions for all of you and my followers on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, live from my loft in Portland, Oregon.

I then took those Steinway Sessions live recordings offline and sent countless clips to this record’s co-Producer Jay Mohr for feedback and direction. This back-and-forth process — which mainly consisted of Jay telling me to quiet down and pushing me to be braver and more exposed — went on for most of 2016 while I was on the road promoting my last release, ADIEU

From there, I invited Portland-based piano genius (and T-Pain muse) GLASYS to come on board to build out the key parts and a few months later we locked ourselves in The Hallowed Halls with Justin Phelps (Amanda PalmerDresden DollsDead Kennedys) and Mike Blackburn (The Wild WarScars on 45Dungen) until My Movie Star was complete. Jay Mohr, who is also a writer on 2 of the songs, gets credit for inspiring the album as a whole.

My Movie Star will be released on October 12th, 2018 as a 2-disc set, alongside an album of all the songs reimagined by The Dandy Warhols, Tiffany (“I Think We’re Alone Now”), Jarryd James, Rian Lewis (Gorillaz, Chromeo), DoublePlusGood, Stose and many more of my favorite bands, artists and musical heroes.

We just wrapped the “Nothing’s Ever Wrong” film shoot with Jay Mohr! I’m exhausted and full of love. And speaking of love, I wrote a thing for my 90s Hollywood crush and this weekend I got to direct him in it! These are super dreamy times around here, friends.

10 Years After Harvey Weinstein Fired Me…

It’s been exactly 10 years since this man fired me from my own Weinstein Company show for refusing to leave rehab against medical advice, then canceled the project all together when I didn’t kiss the ring and quite literally die for him.

He and his whole team were pissed that Pathways dual diagnosis treatment center in St. Helens, Oregon wouldn’t let them come film/exploit me in detox (pesky health privacy laws!) then when I wouldn’t leave to shoot scenes, dude called Pathways, convinced the doctors to come put me on the phone, then savagely fired me for costing him money when I was at one of the lowest, most dangerous points in my life (and recovery).

Always a charmer.

I was given the choice to leave treatment and continue shooting this reality series we had been filming for over a year, but thankfully I chose to live instead. I would not be here today if I had caved to that pressure.

All thanks to the incredible staff at Pathways for not letting them come film me there and then encouraging me to stay. It was a hard decision — and one that I have had moments of regret over here and there since; particularly in the early years, when it seemed I had let my one big break go by.

Turns out there’s no such thing as one big break, and sometimes things that feel like a loss at the time end up being a win later.

Happy Friday, Harvey. I can’t wait to watch your new prison special!

P.S. – Now that Harvey’s going to jail, I hope people start focusing on Bob and the rest of their minions. That entire company is garbage and should be held accountable for the twisted culture they created together.
