I was interviewed for a review of my new record ADIEU in New Noise Magazine this month. Their take? 90s College Rock meets Musical Theater. WHICH IS EXACTLY IT.
Also, “The whole thing is very jazz hands mental health crisis, frankly” is my new favorite thing I have ever said in the press.

“Logan Lynn Brings Back 90s College Rock on ADIEU”
It’s been four years since Portland, Oregon’s Logan Lynn last put out a full-length. Despite coming out with a wildly popular cover of Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” in 2013, his latest record is aligned much closer to 1990s college radio rock and classic theatrical rock—think more Queen and less Yes—than a contemporary party album.
“I think strong ‘90s college rock vibes are probably there by way of the strong ‘90s college rock vibes I loved and was raised on, and then intentionally nodding to on ADIEU.,” Lynn says, referring to the new LP. “But I think [collaborator and producer] Gino [Mari] and I both had pretty serious musical theater vibes happening as a constant throughout. There are moments on this record that feel really jaunty and bratty, and as we were recording them, I tried to keep this mental image of myself with a dancing cane, clicking my heels in the rain, and moving through these very serious themes with a spring in my step, front and center. The whole thing is very jazz-hands mental health crisis, frankly.”
Thanks to the kids over at Babysue.com LMNOP for choosing ADIEU as their Top Pick for new releases next month in the August issue!

Logan Lynn – Adieu (Independently released CD/Vinyl, Pop)
Recommended: TOP PICK. (5 Stars)
“Logan Lynn is an intelligent, motivated, multi-talented, unique fellow who has bitten off a huge chunk here. Any underground pop artist who releases an album that’s over an hour long is really taking chances. But in this case, the results are wonderfully entertaining and engaging. In other words, Adieu is a total…SUCCESS. This lengthy album features songs that are, admittedly, probably too smart for the average casual listener. But the delivery is so straightforward and genuine that you can’t help but enjoy yourself…even if the topics are sometimes heavy and intense. Although there are hundreds upon hundreds of possible reference points and influences in these tracks, in the end it’s difficult to come up with any specific comparison because Lynn seems to be driven by the pure motivation to create and express himself. Usually albums that delve into personal redemption and struggles are self-indulgent and tedious. That is not the case here. Logan writes songs that are ultimately catchy and friendly, and they make you want to immediately hear them again…and again. We like everything about this album. Great songs, great vocals, super intelligent lyrics, and arrangements that are a perfect fit for each track. This guy has really hit the bull’s eye here, at least for fans of underground pop. Folks into the phony processed cheese pop sound of the twenty-first century may be puzzled by this stuff because it’s not simple and easily digested. But folks who enjoy hearing music that exists on a multitude of levels will find themselves in…heaven. Killer tracks include ‘I Like It All The Time’, ‘I Am Like A Dog Now’, ‘Way Out’, and ‘Let’s Go Home’.”
Jul 16, 2016Comments Off on LOOK: Jay Mohr and Logan Lynn Discuss ADIEU, Mental Health and More in the Keep Oregon Well Studio at iHeartMedia (VIDEO)
I had a blast hanging out and talking music and mental health with my buddy Jay Mohr today in our #KeepOregonWell Wellness Zone out at iHeartMedia!
He had such amazing things to say about my new record ADIEU and we went deep around our own battles with mental health struggles, life on the other side of addiction, and more. (or Mohr, as it were)
I love this dude! I’m going to be the guest on Jay’s podcast later this year, as well…so stay tuned. 😉
