I have spent the past 14 months working with KNIK to develop and produce a capsule collection of custom looks for Portugal. The Man’s DENALI tour, designed entirely by John Gourley.

Johnny and I have worked countless hours together, bringing this to life with our team of creators and collaborators. Much of that time has been spent with me capturing J’s inspirations, ideas, and product development notes as they come to him. We then turned those thoughts, pics, texts, phone calls, in-person deep dive meetings, and DMs, into strategic game plans and prototypes, then he tested the garments by jumping in the river and doing high kicks in the wilderness.

We adjusted the samples as the individual pieces from the collection came into view, then John would go jump in the river and do more roundabouts to see how it all felt and worked in real life. Rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat, until each fit was exactly how he wanted them. The process of working with this talented man in these new ways has been a really special experience and I am honored to have played a role in bringing this visual piece of the band’s SHISH era and DENALI shows to life.

Thank you to Payton Smyer for the early patterns and prototypes, to ApparelWerks for letting us take over their studio for months to produce the 60+ garments, to Shane Brown and Draeden Goettelman for taking on the massive amount of embroidery and embellishment work for the entire collection while also making specialty merch with Hanni El Khatib and Justin Hopkins for the album release, and to Coco Noelle for being my right hand for all of it.
