LOGAN LYNN // NEW MONEY \\ OUT NOW!

“From Pillar To Post” Turns 10 This Year!

I can’t believe my major label disaster From Pillar To Post turns 10 this year!

Not the greatest time in my life, as anyone who was even remotely tuned in back then will recall, but this record — and the signing that came with it — definitely gave me hope and something to live for while I was in, and then fresh out of the rehab that finally took.

Lots of really great people believed in me right then and gave me so many opportunities to become someone I just ultimately didn’t want to become. Looking back now it feels hard to imagine that person navigating all that he was navigating without going nuts, so I cut him slack for some of the messier parts where he did.

Anyway, thank you to The Dandy Warhols, Logo, Pati DeVries and the team at Devious Planet, the team at NewNowNext, Carlos Cortes, Jeremy Sherrer, cars & trains, Jacob Portrait, Ryan Wines and the Beat The World Records Team, Sidney McCain at Caroline Records, all those goddamn suits at EMI Records, and everybody else who was in my court for that whole ride.

There are too many of you to name, and it’s taken me a full decade to even wrap my head around it all, but I know for sure that I love each and every one of you, and that experience will always be ours.

OLD PORTLAND’S LAST HOORAH! 🖤 LISTEN AND BUY HERE.

WATCH: Feed Me To The W.T.F. (VIDEO)

I can’t believe it’s been 11 years since this single premiered on MTVLogoVH1 and a bunch of other channels, radio stations, and like…MySpace, I guess?

It was the first time I had ever been on network TV or signed to a major label, and so many people were projecting things onto me at the time, working to mold me, and trying to help fit me into the big game somewhere. Anyone who was tuned in to my nonsense back then will recall, I did not respond well.

“Feed Me To The Wolves” was my first big break, but at its core it’s a song about me trying to survive cocaine addiction, and this video is the last time I would ever be filmed coked out of my mind or drunk. The fact that it was so celebrated at the time — that I was so celebrated in that state of actively, messily, visibly spiraling towards imminent death — seems so curious to me now, over a decade into my recovery.

I was blowing through an 8 ball of coke and drinking at least a fifth of vodka every day, and I showed up to my big break accordingly. I spent $67,000.00 on cocaine in 2007 alone. I was terrible and mean and people thought it was hilarious and marketable.

The crazier I acted, the more folks wrote about me and booked me for shows; and the stranger things got on and off stage at those shows, the more people offered me TV gigs and would come to watch me spin out…but what so many people ended up watching was me canceling performances because I couldn’t remember my words, bailing on appearances at the last minute because my voice quit working (from smoking crack), having my nose begin to die and nearly fall off my face, several public, well-documented overdoses, and eventually (thankfully) disappearing into hospitals and rehabs, emerging well (ish) nearly two years later.

I wish I could go back in time and tell this sad dude to go get help before help is forced upon him in emergency rooms just 18 months later; To not worry about blowing his one shot by pausing the career clock because he ends up blowing his one shot in the end anyway; And that even that’s bullshit because there is no such thing as just one shot, in life or in music.

All that said, I am so grateful for this song, for the peculiar way it continues to find its way into the world all these years later, and how it has ultimately made so many things possible for me, my career, and my life.

Behold: The very last time I ever drank milk.

🖤

From Logo TV’s “NewNowNext”:

Out Singer Logan Lynn Kicks Off 2016 With “The One”
“I do really like the idea that there might be such a thing as ‘the One’ in love.”

New year, new… music? That’s the direction Logan Lynn is taking—the out singer just launched the music video for his new single, “the One,” on New Year’s Eve and its already getting praise.

“I know it’s super old-fashioned sounding, but I do really like the idea that there might be such a thing as ’the One’ when it comes to love,” says Lynn, who used to host NewNowNext Music. “Those types of romantic narratives have totally f*cked me up from time to time, though.”

That’s largely what his new record, Adieu, is about, he says—the ending of a relationship, but also the end of going after the wrong guys. “Men who eventually end up with these types of songs written about them,” adds Lynn. “It’s a thing.”

Check out baby Logan’s first time being on network TV! To say I was freaking out here is an understatement.

Filmed in June 2008 at MTV studios in New York City, this hour-long episode of “NewNowNext” (Logo’s music video countdown series which ran from 2005 to 2012) premiered on September 7th, 2008. The show aired many times on TVs in over 26,000,000 homes and was picked up by Time/Warner On Demand for the month of October 2008. This episode also included the premier of my video “Feed Me To The Wolves“, which was nominated for video of the year by Logo in 2008.

The channel went on to feature 7 of my videos on “NewNowNext” and “The Click List” over the course of the 7 years the show was on the air.

LOGAN LYNN INTERVIEW WITH "GAY LIKE YOU" FROM PERU! READ THE FULL TRANSCRIPT HERE NOW!!!

Logan Lynn (2009)

I was interviewed by an LGBT blog from Peru called “Gay Like You” and the story went live today on their site. You can check it out HERE or read the full transcript just below. Hello, Peru! My gayness knows no bounds. Keep in mind that the questions have been translated to English, so they’ve been cleaned up a bit for this post from the original (which was WAY better to begin with than me trying to speak Spanish! That would have been a very short interview)…

🙂

From “Gay Like You” (12/15/2009)

Logan Lynn is a very nice musician and songwriter whose last album “From Pillar to Post” is getting huge attention. In this exclusive interview with GAY LIKE YOU, THE BLOG he tell us a lot of things and concerns from his music to personal stuff and always in his natural style. His recent hit “Bottom your way to the top” is one of the favorites on MTV and also on LOGO, if you don’t know Logan (that would be a shame) we introduce him and invite to add him in your ITUNES right now…

GLY: What do you like about using poetry in your songs?

LL: All of my song lyrics are lifted from notebooks which I am constantly scribbling in. I think of it more like stream of consciousness than poetry, at least during the initial writing process. By the time it’s set to music and made to fit the chords it gets more in line with what could be considered poetry, but I don’t think I’m a poet. I work mostly in observation and introspection and have, over time, developed my songwriting style into what it is today.

GLY: Do you like to be considered an outcast, a misfit, a rebel?

LL: I have always somehow found myself in outcast roles, but at this point in my life I welcome it. It’s the reality, so I’ve learned to embrace it and think that, musically, all of those feelings have helped shape me as an artist and are, at the core, what bring people to my music. Everybody feels far away sometimes, everybody goes through life wanting to fit in, wishing they were apart of something…so, I think people can relate universally to my songs on those levels.

GLY: You were born and grew up in Portland (Oregon), where right now there is a pulsating music scene. How would you consider your own music if you could describe it yourself?

LL: I was actually born in Lubbock, Texas and was essentially raised in Nebraska. I fled the Midwest in 1996 and Read the rest of this entry »

FEATURE STORY AND INTERVIEW WITH LOGAN LYNN ON "OUT" MAGAZINE'S WEBSITE TODAY!

Logan Lynn (2009)

So exciting. “Out” Magazine has me as one of their featured stories today over at their website. To check it out, CLICK HERE.

Today rules!!!

You can read the full transcript from the interview below as well.

Out Magazine, December/January (2009)

From “Out” Magazine:

“NEED TO KNOW: LOGAN LYNN — The singer chats about his new album, feuding with Jeffree Star, and “putting the discomfort back in disco.” Plus: see his new video, “Bottom Your Way to the Top.”

Logan Lynn’s emo-disco-pop blend has already made him a hit with gay guys who like to hear their lives — from the highs to the lows — set to music. His ability to capture melancholy and melody is really no surprise, given that the grandmother who taught him about music also taught a similarly emotional man, Johnny Cash. We sat down with Lynn to find out about “bottoming his way to the top,” feuding with Jeffree Star, and just what “putting the discomfort in disco” actually means.
