Two weeks with Barbara Cheeseburger, eight years with Pretty Baby! One baby is so young. The other baby is so old.

Love is absolutely wild. When I adopted old baby I told myself (and many others!) that I had learned my lesson and would approach this round differently; that I would love her and look after her, but in a way that protected my heart and mind from the entirely predicable, horrible ending. But that is just not how love works. Not how life works.

I think the fear has been that all of the softness in my life was slipping away. It’s not. Softness abounds.

Found out last week that my teeny tiny senior citizen best friend was having some potentially very serious medical issues. They’ve been running tests at the doggo hospital ever since and it honestly sounded bleak. (Bleak enough for me to adopt a second dog!)

I just heard back that she is actually doing fine. Very old, but in great health — in spite of the symptoms that prompted the doggo emergency.

ANYWAY NOW I HAVE TWO DOGS. ❤️
