Logan Lynn’s “Turn Me Out” Video Featured on PQ Monthly Today

My new video “Turn Me Out” is featured over at PQ Monthly today alongside the announcement of the remix contest. Check it out HERE or just keep reading below.

From PQ Monthly, 8/1/2012:

“Local electro-pop musician Logan Lynn (perhaps better known locally as the public relations and innovations manager for Q Center) released the music video for his new single “Turn Me Out” last week. Lynn described the inspiration for the song and the video, which is scheduled to air on MTV and LOGO, in an interview with Sugar Bang:

The song is about longing for your partner to want you, about the complexities of intimacy between two people who are very close…ultimately it’s about my wanting to get fucked and be loved by the man I love. As for the video, the concept all gets credited to Director Curtis Speer. It was his photography which led me to working with him on this video. He has a very particular point of view which I think is great. There’s something so haunting about his photographs.

The single is part of Lynn’s upcoming album “Tramp Stamps & Birthmarks” (due out Dec. 4). The album includes contributions by writer David Appaloosa (THE HUGS) and producer Gino Mari. Lynn is extending that collaborative spirit by holding a remix contest. The winner will receive Lynn’s entire discography (1999-2012). If the remix gets released, its creator will get 50 percent of the profit from sales. All entries will be featured on Lynn’s website.

Check out the carnival-themed video below.

From Just Out Magazine, 7/25/2012:

“Musician and Q Center PR Manager Logan Lynn’s upcoming album won’t be out until December but the first music video is already here. The electropop gay sounds of the first single “Turn Me Out” dovetail nicely with a video that feels more cozy than it does flashy, even with all the glittery carnival ride lights that sprinkle throughout the Portland scenery. So check out the video, directed by Curtis Speer, below.”

The much-anticipated video for the adorable and inspirational Logan Lynn was dropped into the world’s lap today. Great work on this video for your single ”Turn Me Out.” You turned it out!”

Portland Monthly Magazine Premiers New Logan Lynn Video + Announces New Record Release Date and Album Title!

My new video, “Turn Me Out“, made its exclusive world premier over at Portland Monthly Magazine today! Watch it HERE first. They interviewed me for the piece as well, which you can read while you are there (or via the transcript below). We chatted about the new record (“Tramp Stamps and Birthmarks”, due out Tuesday, December 4th), my relationship adventure, and the “Turn Me Out” video itself.

Check it out:

From Portland Monthly, 7/24/2012:

World Premiere: Logan Lynn’s New Music Video, “Turn Me Out” – The electro-pop darling “just want[s] your love”

Local electro-pop (emotronic?) musician Logan Lynn has been on a two-year do-gooder music hiatus while he manned public relations and innovations for the Q Center (among other things, using his connections to bring in national musicians for concert series). But that’s not to say he hasn’t been busy behind studio doors. He released the catchy, dirty, dancefloor single “Turn Me Out” in June, and Culturephile’s delighted to post the world premiere of the video (that’s right: we got it before MTV or Logo)—a rather atmospheric ode to the joyous imprisonment that is love.

The single is from his upcoming album called Tramp Stamps and Birthmarks, slated for a 12/4 release. It’s a love letter of sorts to his fellow. We had a short chat with Logan about the song, the relationship, the record, and writing about happy material, below the video.

We should mention for our more delicate listeners that the lyrics are a little more than just obliquely sexual.

PoMo: Where did the inspiration for the song and video come from? It seems a paradoxical celebration of the imprisonment of love.

Lynn: This new record is, start to finish, inspired by Read the rest of this entry »

Logan Lynn Interview on The Pride Review This Week

Logan Lynn Keith Haring

I was interviewed by The Pride Review this week. You can check out the original post HERE or keep reading below for the transcript.

From The Pride Review: (6/28/2012)

Who is Logan Lynn today?

I’m still trying to figure that out.

Was music your first love and who was your first human love?

Music and I have always loved one another. My first human love was a boy in high school. He was an 18 year old senior and I was a 14 year old freshman. I ended up having to move to Tennessee midway through the school year (without saying goodbye) when a Christian counselor I was made to see outed me to my parents and then said if they didn’t remove me from the school he would report the boy. So, I left the next morning. It was devastating. When I returned later that year, we picked up where we had left off, but he moved away for college after that summer and we didn’t see much of each other after that.

What can we learn from our first love?

I learned to keep my fucking mouth shut to Christian counselors.

What can we learn from music?

I’ve explored the deepest parts of myself through songwriting and have said things melodically that I never would have had the courage to speak. For me, it’s the most honest place.

How did you get into the music business and did you experience it as a fair playground?

I got signed originally in 1999 and my first record was released in 2000. Nothing really took for another few years, though. I’m pretty sure this “fair” you speak of doesn’t exist in any business, music or otherwise. I’ve been really lucky at times and down and out at others. It’s a tough business, and I’ve made a few really public fuck-ups over the years.

What are the experiences you feel like you had to go through and Read the rest of this entry »

Logan Lynn Interviewed by Accidental Bear This Week!

I chatted with the queers over at Accidental Bear this week. They interviewed me in advance of my new single “Turn Me Out”, which comes out this Tuesday (June 5th). We talked about love, being a whore, activism, loss, and a whole heaping mess of other stuff. Click HERE to check it out or you can read the transcript below.

From Accidental Bear (5/31/2012):

“Q & A With Lovely Ginger Logan Lynn Back From Two Year Hiatus: New Single “Turn Me Out” Out June 5th!”

Accidental Bear: Logan Lynn, musician and activist. What other things can you add to that list?

Logan Lynn: I generally just say Musician, Writer, and LGBT Activist when pairing it down.

A B: We are totally excited about your new single! Tell us a little about it?

Logan: It’s called “Turn Me Out” and is basically about me being a whore for the man I love. I worked with David Appaloosa from Portland pop group The Hugs on the musical part and Gino Mari produced it. We recorded it at The Country Club studios in Portland. After putting out that acoustic EP of love songs late last year I think everyone kinda figured I was working on an acoustic record, which I’m not. It’s nice to be coming back with a dirty, sweaty dance pop experience instead. I like to keep people guessing.

A B: If you were to win a fancy award at a Music Award show, who would you thank that have helped you to get you where you are today?

Logan: My partner, my dearly departed dog friend Dutch, and everyone who didn’t believe in me along the way. I’ve always found the disbelief of others to be highly motivating. Oh, and god…for fucking me over so hard.

A B: We have been following your involvement at the Q Center there in Portland and can say we are proud of the work you are doing. How did you get involved with the Q Center and what is it?

Logan: Thanks! Q Center is Portland’s LGBT community center. We work with all populations of queer people and have all types of programs and services. I got involved after a couple of my friends were gay bashed in 2010 and ended up giving the proceeds of “I Killed Tomorrow Yesterday”, my last studio album, to them as a result. In the years since I’ve worked on a variety of projects there. I think of myself as a radical queer, and this is what that looks like at the moment.

A B: We have noticed that you also write for the Huffington Post. How is that working out for you?

Logan: Great! It’s amazing to have a platform like Read the rest of this entry »
