Logan Lynn - We Will Overcome (2014)

In advance of a highly publicized festival showcase in Austin, Texas alongside Austra, Trust, Big Freedia and Mykki Blanco at Stargayzer Festival on Sunday, September 14th, Portland indie pop musician (and Dandy Warhols protégé) Logan Lynn is releasing the first two songs from his upcoming new record next week on 9.9.2014.  The full album is slated for release in 2015.

A departure from the electronic sound Lynn has built his career around, “We Will Overcome” finds Logan Lynn and his band in a more organic space, pulling on influences that range from Ziggy Stardust-era Bowie to Fun and Elliott Smith.

Lynn debuted this new sound last year when he released a critically-acclaimed cover of Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop”, which New York Magazine called “Dreamy” and “Guitar-heavy” and The Huffington Post described as “warm” and “bolder than the original”.  Since the release of “We Can’t Stop” Read the rest of this entry »

Hologram Remix Contest Winner Announced + New FREE Remix E.P. Dance Alone Out Now!

Dance Alone (2013) Logan Lynn Remix EP Hologram

Huge thanks to everyone who submitted tracks to the Hologram remix contest! After MUCH deliberation, along with the help of 4 other judges, we have chosen Hologram (BeeYizz Remix) and DJ Brian Yates as the winner of the $250 cash prize! We will also be releasing an official music video for the song in June, courtesy of Adrian Sotomayor (who directed the original Hologram video).

While everybody’s mix was really special this time around, we have decided to release these 5 mixes in the form of a new Remix E.P. called Dance Alone (releasing 5/7/13).

Logan Lynn’s Out-of-Print “Clean & Stupid” E.P. From 2007 Re-Released This Week!

The “Clean & Stupid” E.P. is my long-lost 5 song demo which caught the attention of The Dandy Warhols in 2007 and led to a record deal with Caroline/EMI a few months later. Four of the tracks were remade for my 2009 major label release “From Pillar To Post”, but the title cut “Clean & Stupid” landed on the cutting room floor when that record was put out. We only made 50 CD copies of this demo and have, for years, thought it would never be found again. A couple weeks back I found this one copy on Ebay, bought it, and now it can be yours!

LONG VERSION:

Hi again, everybody! It’s been a little over a week since I announced my plans to step away from the stage for the time being and the reaction from all of you has been really incredible. Thanks so much for all the emails and messages in the days since. It’s been reassuring to be able to so clearly see that I have not been wrong about all of you this whole time…that you totally ARE as wonderful as I like to think about you all being…that sometimes strangers care about you more than people you’ve known for years. Thank you for hearing where I’m at enough to wish me well on my journey. I’ve collected so much love from you through the past decade of my being in your ears. I’m not sure what I’ve done to deserve it but I feel so lucky to be connected with this sea of like-minded, sensitive, caring individuals all scattered across the globe…

So WHAT’S NEXT??? I think I may have figured that part out. You know how I was saying I needed to do something that matters for a little while and use my powers for good instead of just to be a famous singing douchebag who complains about how horrible his life is or whatever? Well, I actually meant it and have been exploring what that looks like in the immediate future. I’ve recently been involved with Portland’s Q Center (Oregon’s ONLY LGBTQ Community Center) and have been feeling personally drawn to that place for months. Ever since I stepped foot in the door and met Kendall Clawson (the center’s Executive Director) it’s been clear that she is on a mission to make something really big happen for not just the various queer communities in Oregon but the nation as well. Big things are happening out of that place and I want to be on the frontline of the change. I honestly don’t give a shit about pop music at the moment but I do care passionately about human rights and making things safe for the gay community at large, the community I Read the rest of this entry »

LOGAN LYNN’S NEW RECORD “I KILLED TOMORROW YESTERDAY” FEATURED ON OREGON MUSIC NEWS + MORE THIS WEEK!

It’s been really touching this week since announcing my upcoming hiatus to see how many people, venues, record stores and press outlets have felt that my taking a break from the stage is newsworthy (Just Out, Willamette Week, KZME FM Radio & Oregon Music News to name a few). Makes a boy feel really loved during a rather slippery, uneasy time, so…thanks for that.

In addition to the announcement of my change of plans last week on their site which you can read HERE, OMN (Oregon Music News) picked up on my swan song today and has it featured in a story titled “Logan Lynn Releases Final Album Via YouTube“. Click HERE to redirect or keep reading below.

From Oregon Music News: (8/3/2010)

“While Logan Lynn may have decided to call it quits last week, he’s at least also decided that “The last hoorah may as well have a soundtrack, right?”

Releasing his final album as YouTube playlist, “I Killed Tomorrow Yesterday” features lyrics and vocals from Lynn with music and programming by Bryan Cecil. The album is Read the rest of this entry »

Thanks again to everybody who came out to our Summer Tour kick-off/warm-up show at Doug Fir last week in Portland!!!  It was really fun to see you and the night was just what we needed to send us off right!  Also:  Big thanks to Fleshtone and DoublePlusGood for being so awesome before our band(s) took the stage.  More fun like that, please.

For those of you who missed it, you can watch the video below.  This is one of the new songs from my upcoming record that, until now, nobody has really heard.  Sorry in advance for the shitty ass camera microphone sound quality.

Logan Lynn & The Gentry: “Fall Into New Arms” LIVE @ Doug Fir Lounge, Portland (5/27/2010):

OREGON MUSIC NEWS STORY TODAY ON LOGAN LYNN & THE GENTRY: "EMOTRONIC GOES POST-PUNK"!

OMN (Oregon Music News) came to The Odditorium the other night while we were setting up for yesterday’s shoot and interviewed me and The Gentry. They ran a story today, along with the interview and some MP3 LIVE audio from yesterday!!! Click HERE to check it out at their site or keep reading below…

From “Oregon Music News”: (5/26/2010)

“Logan Lynn & The Gentry: Emotronic goes post-punk”

It is 9pm and Logan Lynn and The Gentry are scrambling to sound-check in a cavernous warehouse space in Portland’s NW industrial district. “We’re in the Dandy’s kingdom,” Lynn says of The Odditorium, the sprawling studio of the Dandy Warhols.

The main room has giant murals leaning on almost every surface, a small fleet of motorcycles in the rear. There’s a kitchen outfitted better than most restaurants. The oddly placed nooks, crannies, windows and doors suggest a building cobbled together from several smaller ones.

The band is setting up for an early morning video shoot at The Odditorium with local CBS affiliate Koin 6. They’re shooting promo videos too, for a tour they’re kicking off this Thursday, May 27th, at the Doug Fir Lounge with DoublePlusGood and Fleshtone.

Logan Lynn is known for his emotronic, electro-pop, and OMN has profiled him before. In the past he’s mostly performed alone, sometimes bringing along a producer like Cars & Trains, while he stood out front crooning into a mic over layers of soft electronics. But for this Thursday’s show, and this summer’s upcoming tour, he’s brought along a full band: slamming dance-electro rockers The Gentry.

He calls himself a “bad hostess” as the band hurries to set up. He seems anxious, but affable. Will an act that’s gained popularity for soft, emotive electronics sit well with an accustomed fan base after adding a full, raucous band?

“I was scared about what people were gonna do,” Lynn says. But after their first performance at Blow Pony in February, “We had every single ear and eye on us. They were into it. I checked the video just to make sure. It’s real.”

The transition began in December “and we just went full force, we started practicing 30 hours a week.” OMN caught up with Logan Lynn, and Gino Mari (vocals, guitar), Steve Taylor (synthesizers, bass), and Andrew Carrion [A.C.] (drums) of The Gentry between rehearsals to talk about the change. Plus, there’s a new live track of their collaboration below.

NEW REMIX!!! "SYSTEM C" VS. LOGAN LYNN'S "BURNING YOUR GLORY"!!! LISTEN HERE!!!

Logan Lynn (2010)

A few months back “Dancefloor Mayhem” hosted a Remix Contest for my song “Burning Your Glory“, just before my new record “From Pillar To Post” was released. There were a bunch of good ones, but not all of them made the final cut for the 4 Volume “Blood In The Water” Remix EP Collection we released alongside “FPTP”. One of those mixes belongs to “System C” and is totally awesome so I figured it should make its way to your ears.

Have a listen to the “System C” Remix of “Burning Your Glory” below!!!
