Been home from movie tour for a few days and have been thinking about the experience a lot. This whole thing has felt like a spiritual release or something. I will also say that movie theater screens seem much larger when your own enormous face is stretched across them. I recommend sitting in the back if you ever find yourself in this situation.

The Pain And The Power is a film about my life, addiction, recovery, family, and career, but it is also a celebration of 30 years of collaboration. None of this happened without other people. Countless musicians, producers, filmmakers, photographers, directors, designers, managers, labels, publicists, venues, promoters, journalists, friends and absolute weirdos have been making things with me since I started releasing music and putting out videos back in 1998. Some of those people are still in my life. Some I haven’t seen in decades. Many are gone. But the things we made together are out here, still finding people.

This film brought 30 years of those collaborations into one place and it made me feel really proud of all of us. What a fucking gift. I’m so grateful. 💙
