New Record Out September 4th! First Two Singles Out Today.
My new album The Pain And The Power (my 12th full-length since 1998 and also the original motion picture soundtrack to The Pain And The Power film) is out September 4th. The first two singles The Cocaine Scene and Too Hard are both out everywhere today. GET SOME HERE.
The process of making this record and film has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. It’s wild to watch decades of footage and songs become a story I can finally step back and see from the outside. These first two singles feel like opening the door and inviting people into that world for the first time.
Getting to collaborate with Kyle Andrews on Too Hard and with Brian Fortson (Classtronaut) on The Cocaine Scene was dreamy as hell. I’ve got a song with Endless Atlas on the album too, but you can’t hear that one yet. I have so much respect for all of the artists and filmmakers involved in this massive project — by far, the biggest in my 30 years of doing this. I am really excited for people to see and hear what we have been building together.
One cool thing about somebody making a documentary about your life and career is you get to put all kinds of stuff into a container and give it back to the world. This particular container comes in limited edition Coke bottle clear vinyl and cassette tapes. Pre-orders are live now for both at LoganLynn.gay, alongside links to all the usual streaming spots. You can learn more about the film and watch scenes from the movie at ThePainAndThePower.gay too, if ya wanna.
Shout-out to Portugal. The Man for launching this project (and 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ label!) with me. Thank you for making a home for Queer and Trans art under PortuGAY at KNIK Records, dude. I love you for real. Thanks also to filmmaker Cai Indermaur for being the world’s greatest collaborator and to Samuel Terrazzino at Burn Money Music for making things sound so good around here. And big thanks to the gang at KNIK Records / Secretly Canadian / Secretly Distrubution, as well as my team at Girlie Action (Felice! Rosie! Ava!) for all the belief and support getting this thing out into the world.
